Over the years, several WWE Superstars have made the jump to join Hollywood. With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena, and Dave Bautista being some of the biggest names in the industry, WWE fans could expect Drew McIntyre to do something similar.
In the past few months, McIntyre has associated himself with several Hollywood projects. Last seen losing to Jacob Fatu at WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada, McIntyre has not been seen on television since then.
It was reported that during his absence from WWE television after WrestleMania 42, McIntyre was busy filming his role in the Highlander movie in Scotland, alongside Henry Cavill, Karen Gillan, Russell Crowe, and former WWE star Dave Bautista, among others.
While rumors recently emerged about McIntyre possibly making his way back to WWE before SummerSlam 2026, a latest report suggested that it might not be the case. According to Deadline, McIntyre has been cast alongside Russell Crowe, Tennyson Crowe, Stacy Clausen, Pablo Derqui, Rose Leslie, Andreas Pietschmann, and Daniel Zovatto in the upcoming project, The Last Druid.
“A quarter century after Gladiator, the movie will tell the story of a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation,” Deadline’s report wrote this while describing the film’s theme. Filming is currently underway in Spain and is being directed by William Eubank.
Also, PWInsider reported that the rumors about McIntyre’s SummerSlam 2026 return were inaccurate due to there being “nothing on the table” for McIntyre creatively in WWE. His Hollywood commitments were suggested as the reason.
