Even before the England soccer team began its FIFA World Cup campaign, it had been struck by a series of tragedies. From getting their goods stolen to now, Newcastle United player Tino Livramento suffering an injury.
Many players arrived at this World Cup with doubts about their physical condition and availability. Despite facing a few challenging months, Reece James, Tino Livramento, Bukayo Saka, and John Stones were all selected.
Livramento, 23, is said to have suffered an injury during a training session before England’s World Cup opener against Croatia. While the Football Association has not yet officially commented on the extent of Livramento’s injury, there are fears about him possibly being ruled out of action for the next four weeks. The youngster’s involvement in the World Cup was already in doubt after he missed the final five weeks of the season with a thigh injury. According to a report by the BBC, it is expected that Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is a heavy favorite to replace Livramento in the squad.
It should also be noted that players who get seriously injured or are ill can be replaced in a World Cup squad up to 24 hours before their team’s first match of the tournament. As of now, nothing concrete has been shared by either the English Football Association or FIFA.
Tino Livramento, who made his England debut under Gareth Southgate, has started a total of five times under Thomas Tuchel. The 26-year-old Reece James is currently the first choice right-back under Tuchel’s vision. However, there are also fitness concerns surrounding James.
