Serena Williams reuniting with Venus Williams has fans crashing out with excitement

The Williams sisters remain a potent force in the world of tennis. Venus is still going strong on the WTA Tour, and Serena recently came back to the professional circuit after retiring in 2022. With Wimbledon around the corner, the tennis world received some big news.

Venus and Serena will be doubles partners.

They received a wildcard, per The Tennis Channel. Meaning, they don’t have a ranking high enough to qualify for the championships automatically, but are accepted into the main Championships draw by committee. The remaining wildcards are yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, the tennis world is buzzing about the fact that Venus and Serena are paired up.

One user on social media brought back 2004 lyrics from Snoop Dogg, in which he mentioned Venus and Serena playing at Wimbledon.

“Siri, play Signs by Snoop Dogg” @BastienFachan posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Signs” was off Snoop’s album “R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece”, in which he says, “You’ll see Venus and Serena, in the Wimbledon Arena.”

Another user expressed excitement at the prospect that it would be the last time Venus and Serena play together.

“Venus and Serena Williams are back (very likely one last time?) We are so lucky in 2026,” @scottgayham posted.

However, not everyone is thrilled about it. One social media user cited British player Dan Evans, who hasn’t received a wildcard.

“What did Dan Evans do to not even deserve a qualifying wild card??” @JacobPacheco6 posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Another user cited his retirement following Wimbledon.

“Why haven’t you given a wild card to Dan Evans since it’s his last ever Wimbledon at least the decency you could give him a wild card” @RodonOkafor31 posted.

Venus and Serena were doubles partners at the US Open in 2022.
