The 2026 NBA Finals featured New York Knicks wing Jeremy Sochan going up against his former teammates with the San Antonio Spurs. Prior to the Game 5, Sochan was caught on camera attempting to knock Spurs star Victor Wembanyama off his game, so it might not have come as a surprise that his former teammates did not want to engage with him postgame.
Immediately after the buzzer sounded for Game 5, as the Spurs were heading back to their locker room, Jeremy Sochan caught up with them to reconnect really quick, but he was ignored. To be fair, it was right after being eliminated on their own home court, so it would be understandable if the Spurs were not really in a talkative mood. Especially from someone who had just won the championship.
In any case, Sochan had the best years of his career thus far with the Spurs. The No. 9 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, he was a double digit scorer for his first three seasons with the Spurs, averaging no less than 11 points per game while shooting around 44 percent or better and playing over 25 minutes.
But this past season, his role and playing time diminished down to only 10 minutes per game, and his name came up on the trade block as the deadline rolled around. Not able to find a taker, the Spurs ended up buying out Sochan’s contract and he signed with the Knicks.
During the team’s run to the NBA Finals, the former Baylor standout played only sparingly, averaging 2.5 points across eight playoff games at a little over three minutes per.
