Tennis legend Serena Williams has thrilled the sports world following her return to tennis this month. Williams has participated in doubles competition, first with Victoria Mboko and more recently with Karolina Muchova, but many are speculating about whether she can make one final run in singles competition at Wimbledon.

Recently, a reporter informed Williams that there was a singles wild card available for Wimbledon and asked whether she would like to take it.
“Oh my Gosh, there’s some left? Would you be interested if I took it? You think I’m ready for singles,” Williams said jokingly. “I need to go to work.”
She then remained noncommittal about the possibility.
“That’s the question of the hour, right? I don’t know. I don’t know. I wonder why there’s… I don’t know.”
Although Williams’ return to singles competition remains up in the air, she will be returning to Wimbledon in doubles action. Wimbledon recently released its initial list of wild cards, with Serena and Venus Williams set to compete in the late-June tournament. Serena said the opportunity was inspired by her daughter, Olympia.
“Well, I think it’s going to be fun,” Serena said. “My daughter Olympia told me that I should play with Venus. She’s always right… She’s like ‘Mom you should play with Venus.’ She’s very serious, she’s very smart. She’s very wise. I said ‘OK Olympia, we’ll see if we can do it.'”
Few players have enjoyed more success at Wimbledon than Williams. She captured seven singles championships at the tournament and established herself as one of the most dominant grass-court players in tennis history. While Williams has not publicly committed to entering the tournament, the remaining wild-card opening ensures speculation will continue until Wimbledon finalizes its field.
