Jack Eichel savagely drops the mic on Golden Knights hate

The Vegas Golden Knights have a long offseason ahead after losing in the Stanley Cup Final against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Knights came within two wins of winning a championship, but instead were left empty-handed.

It’s safe to say that there are a good number of NHL fans that weren’t upset to see the Golden Knights eventually fall. Since joining the league, Vegas has become one of the villains of hockey, and a recent Rotowire poll showed that it is hated arguably more than any other team.

During the Golden Knights’ exit interviews on Tuesday, star forward Jack Eichel offered a genius response to all of the hate from around the league.

“If you ask guys in the league, Vegas ain’t on people’s no-trade list,” Eichel said. “This is the place people want to be and people want to play. This is an organization that people want to be a part of. I would say all of the players here are proud to represent this city and play for this organization. There’s a lot of amazing things that come with that I sure know that I’m proud to be a part of this city and this organization.”

Eichel and the rest of the Golden Knights are surely used to it by now, and they may have even used it as fuel to tear through the Western Conference this postseason. The standout center is coming off of an excellent playoff run that saw him tally 22 points, second in the NHL behind his teammate Mitch Marner.

Things are going to look a lot different in Vegas next season, as the team announced on Tuesday that head coach John Tortorella will not be returning next season after losing in the Cup Final. Tortorella had taken over for Bruce Cassidy, who was fired with just weeks to go in the regular season, and did a great job getting this team playing its best hockey at the right time.

Whoever the new head coach is will have a star-studded roster, led by Eichel, to come in and coach, and they may have to deal with even more hate rolling in from fans around the league.
