Even Google is impressed by Knicks star Jalen Brunson’s Finals performance

The New York Knicks organization and its fanbase are in cloud nine after breaking a 53-year title drought in style — mounting four come from behind wins in the NBA Finals against a young San Antonio Spurs team to take the series in five games. Jalen Brunson was the man who took the Knicks home, as he scored 45 points in their 94-90 clinching victory in Game 5 on Saturday night, and he has skyrocketed atop pundits’ all-time greats list.

Brunson has deserved all the praise levied his way, as he has defied the odds to be one of the few players in NBA history to lead a franchise to the title, a storied one at that in the Knicks, as a 6’2″ guard. There aren’t too many players in NBA history who can confidently say that they’re the best player of a championship-winning team while standing at that height.

It’s now gotten to a point where searching Brunson’s name on Google prompts a correction from the search engine to “Captain Clutch Brunson”.

Brunson has become known as the “captain” of the Knicks, and he has deserved every bit of that distinction. The old adage in the NBA is that teams take after the identity of their best player, and the Knicks have internalized Brunson’s composure and dogged determination, leading to an NBA championship.

There’s also a reason as to why the Knicks were able to come back from double-digit deficits on four separate occasions, and it’s Brunson who proved to be the main difference between the two teams. Brunson was able to execute during clutch situations, getting to his spots even against a pesky Spurs defense, all while San Antonio was sputtering on the other end.

Brunson was indeed “Captain Clutch” for the Knicks in their title run this year, and that is a moniker that should stick for a while.
