Blue Jays’ George Springer makes personal history with home run vs. Red Sox

The Toronto Blue Jays moved to 35-38 with a 6-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Leading the way was outfielder George Springer.

Springer’s two-run home run in the ninth inning put the final nail in the coffin. It also marked the 300th long ball of the outfielder’s career.

Overall, Springer went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the victory. He opened up the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Springer technically outscored the Red Sox all on his own.

Through his first 51 games in 2026, the outfielder is hitting .215 with seven home runs, 19 RBIs and four stolen bases. While his numbers may not jump off the page, Springer has been heating up, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs over his last five games.

The Blue Jays know that if they want to make another run to the World Series, they need Springer to be at the top of his game. He has given them plenty of reasons to believe in him though. Entering Tuesday’s game, Springer was hitting .259 with 125 home runs, 354 RBIs and seven stolen bases over his six years with the franchise.

The outfielder gives Toronto plenty of pop at the top of their lineup. However, Toronto at large ranks 22nd in the league with 299 runs scored. They’ll need the outfielder and all members of their lineup to take a step forward amid their playoff push.

On Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Springer more than did his part. In the process, he became the latest member of the 300 home runs club.
