The Los Angeles Dodgers have been able to win in many different ways during their recent dominant run, and they put that skill on display once again on Tuesday night. The Dodgers came out on top of a pitcher’s duel at home against the Tampa Bay Rays, winning 1-0 on a solo home run by Shohei Ohtani.
Before the game, manager Dave Roberts talked about how Ohtani likes to get 10 hours of sleep per night. With the Japanese superstar set to pitch tomorrow’s series finale, he would have been loving the win that lasted less than two hours. When asked about it after the game, Ohtani couldn’t help but flash a smile.
"There are days when other guys pick me up, or pick other people up, so it's really like when everybody does their job, then things go well."

“It’s nice to have a quick game, and a quick win too,” Ohtani said through his interpreter.
For nearly six innings, Justin Wrobleski and Drew Rasmussen went back and forth in what was a scoreless pitcher’s duel at Dodger Stadium. The Rays, trying to keep pace with the New York Yankees at the top of the AL East, seemed to be in prime position to snag a run and steal a road win over the NL’s best, but Rasmussen made a mistake to the best hitter in the National League in the bottom of the sixth.
Ohtani led off the bottom of the sixth and saw a cutter over the heart of the plate on the first pitch of the inning, launching it over the center field wall to put LA on the board first. Wrobleski’s night was over, but Will Klein and Kyle Hurt carried the lead into the ninth inning before closer Tanner Scott secured the save.
The Dodgers have now secured a series win over a very good Rays team with wins in the first two games of this three-game set. Roberts and company will be feeling good about their chances of a sweep with their ace hitting the mound on Wednesday night. Now that he will have a chance to get some sleep, it could be another long night for Tampa Bay.
