After 2026 NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson was caught yelling “f**k Wemby,” actor O’Shea Jackson Jr. defended the New York Knicks guard‘s back.
He responded to a fan who reacted to the video of Brunson’s remark by saying, “When [you’re] 40 years old and your op is 22.” Jackson then posted two videos, one showing Victor Wembanyama’s dirty plays in the NBA Finals and another showing Brunson’s 61-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs in 2024. After the game, Wemby tossed the game ball into the crowd, making it difficult for Brunson to retrieve and preserve it.

Why did Knicks’ Jalen Brunson say “f**k Wemby” after the NBA Finals?

The video that prompted this discussion was taken after the NBA Finals. Brunson was celebrating the win and could be heard toasting to “f**k Wemby.”
They had a lot of heated exchanges throughout the Finals. At one point, Wemby threw Brunson down by the head, and in Game 5, he impeded on his landing zone on a three-pointer, which was not called a foul.
Luckily, the Knicks were able to prevail, beating the Spurs in five games in the Finals. Their wins included a historic 29-point comeback in Game 4 in front of a raucous crowd at Madison Square Garden.
Brunson was named Finals MVP for his efforts. He averaged 32.6 points per game in the series. He capped the series with a 45-point performance in Game 5. Brunson scored 41 of the team’s 94 points in the series-deciding game. He also made 13 of his 15 free throw attempts.
The Knicks won their first championship in 53 years. A parade will be held on Thursday, June 18, in New York to celebrate the team’s win.
