Stephen A. Smith absolutely destroys nephew for putting himself on Knicks superfan Spike Lee’s level

There are very few New York Knicks superfans like Spike Lee, especially not the nephew of fellow fan and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith.

While appearing on The Stephen A. Smith Show on SiriusXM, his nephew, Josh, believed that he deserved “the same treatment” as Lee. This is partially due to the fact that he calls into Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart’s podcast, calling plays that the team alleges use.

“Was Spike Lee calling plays?” he said in defense of his belief that he outranks Lee as a Knicks fan. “You [were] with Jalen [Brunson] today. I call into their podcast, and they play what I say on there, so they hear me speaking!”

Smith then called his nephew “Johnny Come Lately,” due to his age. He then pointed at the amount of money Lee has spent on tickets to see the Knicks over the years, which has eclipsed $10 million.

“Do you know that Spike Lee has spent over $10 million [on] tickets? Do you realize that Spike Lee had his life threatened when the New York Knicks were on the verge of elimination in the playoff path? He’s going through all of that. All you’ve been doing is coasting, living the life of a New York Knicks fan when they’re finally relevant. We couldn’t find your a*s when they weren’t in the playoffs, but now that they’re winning, here you are, front and center, talking about you deserve as much credit as Spike Lee?”

Smith then alleged that while he and his father were watching Knicks games, his nephew was “out in the street with your boys.” He didn’t watch the team at their worst, according to the ESPN star.

“I just said you [were] outside [and you weren’t] watching the game because they were losing. But here you come when they’re winning, and you deserve the same place as Spike Lee?” he asked.

Like Lee, Smith is a lifelong Knicks fan. He’s been in the trenches with the team for decades. The win means even more to fans like himself, regardless of what his nephew says.
