The injury Golden Knights’ Mark Stone was playing through in Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Vegas Golden Knights fell short of winning the Stanley Cup after falling to the Carolina Hurricanes in six games. Mark Stone contributed two goals in the series, both in Golden Knight losses. Still, Stone missed time earlier in the playoffs due to an injury.

Now it is being revealed what the injury was and what Stone played through during the rest of the playoffs, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“Mark Stone said he had a couple of tears in his left adductor that forced him to miss the rest of Game 3 against Anaheim, and not come back until Game 3 against Colorado,” Webster posted on X, formerly Twitter.

In the first series against the Utah Mammoth, Stone scored two goals while adding two assists in six games. He would then add another goal in Game 2 against the Anaheim Ducks in the second round. In game 3, he added an assist, but played just 4:24 of ice time before leaving with the injury.

Stone was still effective when he returned. In the two games he played against the Avalanche, he scored twice while adding an assist. That included Stone scoring the opening goal of Game 4, helping the Golden Knights complete the sweep of the Colorado Avalanche.

A minor adductor tear can take two weeks to heal, but multiple tears and more intense ones can take from three weeks to multiple months to recover from. Stone missed two weeks of play and likely was still feeling the effects of the injury well into the playoffs. Now he will have a full offseason to recover and come back for 2026-27.
