LeBron James, even at the age of 41, still has no shortage of suitors around the NBA. James is an unrestricted free agent for the first time in years, and a range of solutions, including potential retirement, have been talked about as far as his immediate future is concerned.
And yet, all signs point to the four-time champion potentially returning to LA, with reports claiming that LeBron is currently negotiating a new deal with the organization. That is exactly what NBA insider Marc J. Spears claimed as well, per a post on X by ClutchPoints. And as it seems, there might be another reunion on the cards.
"I'm hearing that [LeBron James is] likely coming back [to the Lakers]. … Kevin Love could likely be joining the Lakers too."

“That’s what I am hearing. I am hearing that he is likely coming back. I am curious under this new Lakers regime, you know the numbers though. Also I am hearing that one of his old teammates from Cleveland, Kevin Love could likely be joining the Lakers too. I could see those two guys being reunited there,” he said.
Of course, the financial structure of any agreement remains fluid as the 41-year-old looks increasingly likely to return for a record 24th season in the NBA. Across 70 appearances between the regular season and playoffs last season, he averaged just over 21 points per game, even briefly leading the line in the absence of the likes of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
And while there may have been rumors of a discord between him and the Lakers’ hierarchy, the relationship has still been described as ‘harmonious.’ That is also understood to be a result of the increased willingness LeBron has shown to cede offensive control, giving Doncic in particular the freedom to lead the team.
However, obstacles undoubtedly remain, with Austin Reaves reportedly seeking a deal worth over $40 million per year. At the same time, Reaves has generated significant interest and may as well be sacrificed in order to retool around LeBron and Doncic for next season.
And well, with LeBron reportedly open to a ‘pay cut’ if the Lakers present a ‘win-now’ plan, it remains to be seen whether a reunion with Love actually materializes.
