The Philadelphia Phillies optioned starting pitcher Andrew Painter to Triple-A following his start on Wednesday, the team announced. Fans made their frustrations known on social media following Painter’s outing, as the right-handed hurler allowed six earned runs across two innings of work. Painter saw his ERA climb to 7.06 across 14 outings after the start, and it is clear that he needs a restart at Triple-A.
Painter was once a top prospect and his future remains bright. With that being said, this is the right move for now. Painter will try to get back on track at the minor league level.
