Thunder rumors: Nets have expressed interest in Aaron Wiggins ahead of draft

Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti is reportedly expected to move up in this year’s draft and could part ways with Aaron Wiggins, along with draft capital, to do so. As various reports indicate, the Thunder’s desire to crack the top 10 makes the Brooklyn Nets, with the sixth overall pick in next week’s draft, a potential option, according to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.

Wiggins has garnered the Nets’ attention ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft, where the Thunder could strike a deal with the Nets to secure a prospect that Oklahoma City covets, according to Siegel.

“We have learned that the Nets have interest in Thunder wing Aaron Wiggins,” Siegel said. “The Thunder own the 12th and 17th picks and are trying to move into the top 10. The Nets own the 6th pick.”

Oklahoma City owns the No. 12 and 17 overall picks, which could be heading to Brooklyn along with Thunder guard Aaron Wiggins. Wiggins averaged 9.4 points on 43.1/35.6/73.6 percent shooting splits, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 2025-26.

While the Nets’ sixth overall pick is a potential route to moving up in this year’s draft, the Thunder could also trade with the Kings, who own the No. 7 pick. Although it is easy to assume the Thunder will be targeting a big man after losing Game 7 to Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, the 2025 champions could have eyes for a guard, as ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel noted.

“Along with this being a trade-up opportunity for a guard like Flemings, should he fall to the Mavs, this is also a spot in the draft that a team like the Thunder could jump the Warriors to grab Mara, assuming he isn’t taken by Atlanta the pick before,” Siegel reports. “If Ament is on the board, he will certainly be in play for trade-up scenarios as well.

“The other trade-up spot inside the top 10 teams are actively pointing to is the Kings at No. 7, which seems a little odd given that Sacramento could take Brown, Wagler, or Acuff — whoever is still on the board. In the event that Brown and Acuff are taken by the Clippers and Nets, there is a possibility the Kings could trade down since they have known interest in Flemings.”

The NBA Draft is next Tuesday.
