Dodgers’ Dave Roberts compares Kyle Tucker’s struggles to 2025 disapointment

While it has been a relatively miserable season for Los Angeles Dodgers star Kyle Tucker, manager Dave Roberts would have an interesting comparison to a certain player from the 2025 season. As the struggles with the Dodgers outfielder Tucker have been well-documented, Roberts would speak on how it’s similar to Michael Conforto from last season.

So far this season with Los Angeles, Tucker is hitting a .241 batting average to go along with six home runs and 40 RBIs, as this is his first season with the team after getting a $240 million contract. With Conforto trying to prove himself in 2025, Roberts would say it’s similar when he was on “Dodger Talk with David Vassegh.”

“There’s a lot of star power in our room, and regardless of who you are, to come into this can be daunting. It’s a very open and friendly clubhouse, but I certainly think as peers, you try to play the comparison game, which is pretty tough,” Roberts said.

“I do think Kyle might be in that similar boat. I haven’t had that conversation with him yet. I’m still trying to learn him,” Roberts continued. “As manager, you don’t want to push too much too soon, and sort of push players away. But I’m gaining more information every day with Kyle. I will say, the last couple games, he’s been better. We gave him a day off in that Phillies series, I think that was a benefit. So we’ll see. I’m keeping a watchful eye on him.”

Roberts spoke about how he and Confort had a “good heart-to-heart” about the season and how it “resonated” with him, as he looks to do the same with Tucker. At any rate, it remains to be seen if Tucker gets out of the slump.
