Darryn Peterson makes LeBron James admission before NBA Draft

Darryn Peterson brings watchful eyes ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft. The Kansas star and BYU’s AJ Dybantsa lure their top pick debate ahead of the first round festivities on June 23. Now Peterson helped bring Los Angeles Lakers free agent LeBron James into the picture, by making one admission.

The past prized Jayhawks freshman took part in a pre-draft video with NBA Future Now released Wednesday. He got asked if there’s anything from James’ game that he’s added to his own skillset.

“Probably just have the longevity,” Peterson said with a serious tone.

That means stretching his career past two decades is Peterson’s vision. James has played an astonishing 23 seasons in the league. Peterson happens to hail from the same state that produced the NBA legend.

However, Peterson grew up in Canton, best known as the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now it could be the home of the league’s next top overall draft pick.

Signs point to the Washington Wizards taking a past Big 12 star. But is Peterson gaining late steam? NBA insider for ClutchPoints Brett Siegel dropped this pre-draft intel ahead of night one of the festivity. Including if teams have concerns involving Peterson’s past injuries and availability dilemma from this past season.

“Teams that spoke with and met with Peterson at the combine, including the Wizards, came away with the assurances they needed and with the understanding that none of these problems would carry over to the start of his NBA career,” Siegel wrote.

Dybantsa remains the “overwhelming” favorite to go first, though, per Siegel.
