Stephen A. Smith blames Donald Trump, not Danhausen, for Knicks’ Game 3 loss

It’s clear that Danhausen isn’t responsible for the New York Knicks’ loss in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Stephen A. Smith blames Donald Trump, with whom he has been feuding.

During Danhausen’s appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show, he talked about when he reversed his “curse” on the Knicks after they went down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs. They then won 13 games in a row before losing Game 3 of the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs, which the “Very Nice, Very Evil” WWE Superstar didn’t cause.

“We ‘cursed,’ they lost two games; we ‘uncursed,’ 13-0. [Then] they lost one; we won’t talk about that. That wasn’t my fault, that wasn’t your fault,” he said.

Smith then chimed in and gave his reason for the loss: President Trump. He said, “That was Trump, that wasn’t me,” prompting Danhausen to throw his hands up, saying, “I didn’t say it!”

The First Take analyst didn’t take kindly to that, questioning why the WWE star would be “scared” of Trump. The “Very Nice, Very Evil” wrestler then explained that he’s not afraid of the president, but “Danhausen’s powers can only go so far.”

He then explained that his powers can “get blocked” by things out of his control. On Monday, June 8, 2026, that occurred when the president was at Madison Square Garden.

“Danhausen’s not afraid, but I’m just saying, sometimes those powers get blocked. Every once in a while, one will come across and block it. That night, it got blocked. But, after that, though, we’ll ignore that one, we’ll go past because they won.”

Ultimately, fans can choose to believe in Danhausen’s powers or not. However, he pointed out that a 13-game win streak isn’t a fluke, taking a shot at Kenny Atkinson’s “analytically” winning comments.

“I don’t think they accidentally won 13 games in a row,” he emphatically stated. “I don’t think they accidentally won a championship.”
