Arguably the biggest pro-wrestling promotion in the world, Stamford, Connecticut, has hosted the WWE headquarters since 1983. However, WWE unexpectedly became a part of a recent fire that broke out in the city.
According to an upload by Greg Thompson on social media, a flag from WWE headquarters in Stamford flew off their building, hit a power line, and caused a fire in downtown Stamford. The entire situation was caught on camera. As of now, there has been no update on how the flag flew off the building. According to current updates, no one was injured in the fire that the flag caused.
WWE announced in Nov. 2023 that it would raise “one of the largest American flags in the country” atop its new headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. However, it is currently not known if that was the flag in question that caused the incident.
“WWE today announced that in honor of Veterans Day and on behalf of all Americans the company will raise one of the largest American flags in the country atop the new WWE headquarters in Stamford Conn. The flag which measures a massive 3 040 square feet at 76 feet wide and 40 feet tall will fly as a beacon of patriotism – inspired by and in honor of all of our veterans especially those troops killed in action,” the company’s press release from 2023 read.
WWE’s HQ and corporate structure have witnessed a severe change in the past few years. With Vince McMahon stepping down and TKO taking over, fans have also recently voiced their concerns regarding some of TKO’s latest policies. Despite all the corporate changes, WWE continues to be a successful promotion.
