The Los Angeles Clippers struck gold when they won a coin flip with the Indiana Pacers to secure the No. 5 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. While household names such as Keaton Wagler, Mikel Brown Jr. and Darius Acuff Jr. have generated the most buzz for the Clippers at No. 5, Arizona guard Brayden Burries has emerged as a legitimate option, according to Jake Fischer.
“The Stein Line has learned that Brayden Burries was impressive in a private setting Tuesday with Clippers coach Tyronn Lue,” Fischer wrote. “To the point that Burries, league sources say, is now very much under consideration to be selected by LA with the fifth pick alongside Wagler, Acuff and Brown. Sources say Brown has a private audition scheduled with the Clippers on Thursday and that [Nate] Ament worked out for the Clippers on Wednesday.”
Burries was one of the nation’s most efficient guards this season while leading Arizona to a Final Four appearance.
Would Clippers pull trigger on Brayden Burries at No. 5 after impressive workout?

The 6-foot-4 combo guard averaged 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals on 49.1 percent shooting. He impressed scouts with his strength as an interior scorer and defender, weighing in at 215 pounds at the draft combine. Meanwhile, he shot 39.1 percent from three on 8.6 attempts per 100 possessions while serving as an effective secondary shot creator.
Burries is the first freshman in the last 25 years to average over 16 points, four rebounds and two assists while shooting over 49.0 percent from the field and 39.0 percent from three (over eight attempts per 100 possessions) with a box plus minus of 10.0 or higher.
The Clippers are reportedly seeking a bigger guard to pair with Darius Garland in their backcourt. While some scouts have questioned Burries’ upside, he’d offer an ideal complement to Garland due to his strength, defense and ability to play on or off the ball.
