Latest Max Fried injury update will catch Yankees fans’ attention

New York Yankees star pitcher Max Fried is working his way back from an elbow injury. Fried previously suffered a left elbow bone bruise. MLB.com recently shared an update on the pitcher’s injury recovery. According to MLB.com, Fried is expected to return at some point in July.

He is expected to throw a bullpen on June 21. If that bullpen outing goes well, perhaps Fried can begin taking the next steps toward returning from the injury.

It seems as if he is still a few weeks away from making his return, but Fried is trending in the right direction.

The southpaw turned in a 3.21 ERA across his first 10 outings of the 2026 MLB season. He also recorded 50 strikeouts in his 61.2 innings of work on the mound. Fried is still among the best pitchers in all of baseball, and the Yankees are certainly hopeful that he can return sooner rather than later.

With that being said, the ball club is going to proceed with patience. There is no need to rush him back from injury. New York currently sits in first place in the American League East standings with a 45-27 record. The Yankees hold a 3.5 game lead over the second place Tampa Bay Rays in the division.

Updates on Max Fried’s injury recovery will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available. Meanwhile, the Yankees will look to clinch a series sweep against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday after earning 12-2 and 10-5 victories on Tuesday and Wednesday.

First pitch for Thursday’s ball game is scheduled for 7:05 PM EST in New York.
