Red Sox pitcher Patrick Sandoval’s potential injury return date gets big update

Boston Red Sox veteran pitcher Patrick Sandoval is recovering from a biceps injury. The left-hander has not appeared in an MLB game since 2024 with the Los Angeles Angels. It seems as if Sandoval could make his Red Sox debut soon, though. According to MLB.com, Sandoval is expected to return at some point in July. He has been making rehab starts and is seemingly trending in a promising direction.

Sandoval pitched with the Angels from 2019-2024. He displayed potential at times, as the 2022 campaign saw him turn in a strong 2.91 ERA across 27 starts.

He struggled in 2023 and was limited to only 16 appearances in 2024, however. He signed a deal with the Red Sox during the offseason after the 2024 campaign but has yet to appear in a game with Boston as mentioned.

Updates on Patrick Sandoval’s injury recovery will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.

The Red Sox are in the middle of a disappointing season. Boston is just 29-42 and in last place in the American League East standings. Boston entered the ’26 campaign with high expectations, but the ball club has clearly underperformed. The Red Sox are likely going to sell ahead of the MLB trade deadline given their overall record and standings placement.

Boston is currently trying to avoid a sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays at home. The Blue Jays lead the three-game series 2-0 heading into Thursday’s contest. The Red Sox will attempt to get back into the win column on Thursday afternoon at 1:35 PM EST at Fenway Park.
