World Cup legend Thomas Muller stopped by Knicks parade amid NYC excursion

The FIFA World Cup has officially arrived to New York and the entire United States of America, and it coincides with celebrations of the New York Knicks winning the NBA championship. And well, legendary German star Thomas Muller evidently bore the brunt of Thursday’s title parade in New York, which had the entire city out on the streets.

Muller hilariously posted a video showing his struggles as he tried to ride a bike to his own ‘training session’ at the ‘soccer field,’ per a post on X by ESPN FC. Muller initially pretended to have no idea why so many people were out on the streets celebrating before calling the parade massive.

“I wanted to go to my training session, today, to the soccer field. Took the bike, but I don’t know why, well I struggled a little bit, the Knicks are too strong his year, even the parade is massive, it’s massive,” he said.

The 36-year-old is obviously not part of Germany’s squad for the World Cup after having announced his retirement after the Euros 2024. The legendary striker spent almost the entirety of his club career with Bayern Munich and retired from the national team with 131 total caps, in which he scored 45 goals and had 41 assists. He was part of the title-winning 2014 squad and won the World Cup Golden Boot back in 2010, finishing with 10 World Cup goals.

The extremely talented striker left a lasting legacy at both the international and the club stage, even being nicknamed “der Raumdeuter” for revolutionizing the second striker role. Of course, the German currently plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer and is no stranger to US culture.

Also known for an extremely animated personality, he is currently serving as a TV pundit for German broadcaster MagentaTV. Muller was extremely pleased when he saw the Knicks’ massive parade, and would have felt the same way after Germany destroyed Curacao 7-1 in their first World Cup fixture.
